Red Mountain Buggy Tours was born from a lifelong love of the outdoors and a commitment to offering something different. We’re proud to be the first buggy tour company on the Costa del Sol to be fully authorised by the Mijas Council Environmental Department—with an approved route, a client safety plan, and a protection plan for the environment we explore.
We specialise in small, semi to fully private tours that connect you with the wild beauty of inland Mijas. Whether you’re a couple, a family, or a small group of friends, you’ll enjoy a more personal, relaxed adventure—far from the crowds.
Our fully equipped on-site workshop ensures our buggies are the best maintained on the coast. Each two-seater vehicle is prepped daily, making it safe, comfortable, and easy to drive for every level of experience.
From our base on the edge of Fuengirola (conveniently located between Málaga and Estepona), we’ll take you across rivers, along winding trails, and into the heart of the Andalusian countryside. Expect panoramic views, peaceful nature, and a unique way to experience one of Spain’s most beautiful regions.

James Dix
Founder – Mechanic – Guide
Meet James – Founder, Guide, and Mechanic
James Dix’s journey began in his dad’s workshop, where he spent his childhood learning the ins and outs of motorcycle mechanics. By 19, he was a certified mechanic working for a Honda motocross dealership, fine-tuning bikes for local and national riders—a dream job for someone who’d loved motocross since age 7.
In 2012, James followed his passion for off-road riding to the Costa del Sol, where he became a motorcycle tour guide. Exploring rugged mountain trails while sharing his love for the outdoors quickly became more than just a job—it became his calling.
With over 25 years of mechanical experience and a decade of guiding under his belt, James launched Red Mountain Buggy Tours to offer something different: small, personal adventures through the landscapes he knows and loves.

Meet Rocky – Our Four-Pawed Co-Guide
Rocky isn’t just a dog—he’s family. Rescued as a pup and now living his best life in the mountains of Mijas, Rocky has become an unforgettable part of our buggy tour team. With his golden coat, loyal heart, and love for the open trail, he brings joy to every ride he joins.
From autumn through spring, when the weather is cool and safe, Rocky joins selected tours in his custom seat and signature goggles. We take his health seriously, so during the hotter summer months, he takes a well-deserved break to stay cool and happy.
Rocky’s excitement is contagious—his tail never stops wagging, and he’s always ready to greet guests with a big smile and a spark of adventure. Whether he’s riding up front or posing for photos at scenic viewpoints, Rocky makes every tour even more special.
If you’re lucky enough to meet him on your ride, you’ll see why Rocky is so much more than a mascot—he’s the heart of our crew.

Join us for a small-group adventure—morning or afternoon—with safe, secure online booking and no hidden extras.
Our fully automatic two-seater buggies are chosen for comfort, safety, and ease of driving, making them perfect for all experience levels. Along the route, we stop at stunning viewpoints where you can switch drivers, snap memorable photos, and soak in the beauty of the Mijas countryside.
To keep your tour personal, enjoyable, and low-impact, we limit each group to just two buggies (maximum four people). It’s a relaxed, more meaningful way to explore off-road—designed with both people and nature in mind.
